I have been here twice...

I went here in Sept. 2007 for a wedding. While I was there, I fell in love with the place. We really only had time to go to the wedding and walk on the beach before we went home. I learned about the migratory birds that visit the island in the fall/early winter and decided to make a trip back to the island to see them. It was amazing! I was so impressed. We saw so much wildlife while we were there. The snow geese were amazing just by the large number of birds that were there. Watching them all take off when scared by an eagle is absolutely breathtaking. Also, we enjoyed looking at the views from the lighthouse. The nature centers are really fantastic. We signed up for a bus tour of the island and it was so worth it!

The only bad thing about Assateague is the bugs. The bug bites can be pretty bad.

i went here while the rest of my senior class was at beach week in Ocean City, Maryland. i really liked it, i went with some friends and it beat what the rest of my class was doing [getting drunk every night and walking the boardwalk]. The horses are so beautiful, and i wish we had more time to explore the park, because it was pretty massive, and we just skipped over the whole thing to get to the beach.

the first time i went to this place is also the last i will ever go. my family and i were staying at ocean city and heard this was a nice place to go. the wild horses are kinda cool, but the smelly poo and dirty sand, not so much.

A tip I have about this place

The island is divided between two states, Maryland and Virginia. In Maryland, it includes a state park and parts of a national seashore and a national wildlife refuge.
