standard catholic service by DJStroky

Well, I was a bit limited in my choice of churches in Křivoklát, since this is the only one within miles (err kilometers I should say). So, for the past 3 Sundays I went to this church.

It’s really old, but is still standing up. There are some wonderful old paintings and decorations inside the church and an old pipe organ, but they have installed a PA system.

On the Sundays that they had an organ player, it was quite a dramatic experience with the beginning and ending songs since the chords resonated very well through the church. The PA system didn’t really help any for me since I don’t speak any Czech and the whole services were in Czech – with no Latin. My mom was my translator on one Sunday and said that they were celebrating St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s ministries and the sermon was how we should also do good stuff in this life or something like that.

Each Sunday there were more people, but still relatively few. The first Sunday there were about a dozen people and most recently perhaps 20. I didn’t really go and meet any of the people because of the language barrier, but I kinda regret not seeing if any of them spoke English – they seemed nice. There weren’t any people my age (23) there except on the last Sunday. Still though, it was good to see people in this church since nationally, only 28% of Czechs say they believe in God.
