Beautiful... by SECOND_TIME_AROUND

Long drive and high up. A little scarey in parts. Would like to go and take time looking.

Not to take much away from the section of the Parkway through Virginia, but the drive through North Carolina has much more to see and do. The better thing to do is to start from where the Parkway intersects near I-77 and head south. Not recommended for fast drivers, though: the turns on the Parkway will keep you from going over 45 mph.

My NC trip by bb4205

My husband and I went to NC to visit some friends. It was so beautiful. I’ve never seen so many mountains. Even to go shopping at Target there were beautiful mountains in the background. We went on hiking trails and climbed a mountain. I’ve never been the outdoorsy type but it was so beautiful there. I live in Florida which is very flat. Being in NC was a huge difference. I wish I could move there.

Best road trip for BEAUTIFUL scenery by jessleighj

I was a bit suprised to learn that The Blue Ridge Parkway is the MOSTVISITED national park in the United States. The reason for my suprise is that I feel like it is not crowded at all. This may be because of how it is very long, but narrow, so people from MANY cities along the drive go there for daytrips quite often. I know I am one of those! THe best trip I ever took was a roadtrip from the parkway near Boone, NC to beyond Asheville. We stopped at many amazing places along the way. The best part is that every few miles is another pull off that features an overlook (most with jaw dropping views), a great hike, waterfalls, cabins, mills, beautiful orchards, country stores, and so much more. There are plenty campgrounds along the way, so pack a tent and head for the Parkway!
