Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 year ago

It’s extremely beautiful here. And it’s a friendly town, a little bit trendy, but still a cool place.

Come here for all the activities – I did zip-lining, rafting, and climbed Villarica. Climbing Villarica was one of the most personally fulfilling things I’ve done. It wasn’t fun, it was hell (I was out of shape) but it was totally worth it, just for the view and sense of accomplishment… and sliding down a volcano on your butt when you’re done. :)

Met a lot of cool Chileans here, helped us book our trips, but also hung out with us even when we were done with our trips.

Also, be aware that many many of the people you will run into here (in town) are tourists, but there are generally very cool. Not that there’s anything wrong with tourists… I was one at the time.

Pucon, Chile- Great Hiking, Picturesque, and Casino  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

Went there with a friend who lives in Concepcion. Black beaches, great hiking. If you go try to find the waterfall-fueled waterslide about a mile up the hiking trail just outside of town. I couldn’t tell you how to get there, just that it was worth it and offer the chance to take a few memorable pictures.

Snow-capped volcanos  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

What’s not to love about snow-capped volcanos next to lakes with black sand, and great food that is paid for by your friend’s father! The Chilean lake district is a beautiful area, if expensive.

Worth visiting!

I go there every summer, and I love it. Though is always crowed during the summer months (January-February), there’s always something to do, like hikingm row etc, and the landscapes are so beautiful. The volcano is awesome too, and you can eat pretty good, though during summer is kind of expensive.

Worth visiting!

I just spent 8 days in Pucón. It was a beautiful place. It looked more German or Swiss than Chilean, I thought, but it was a cute town, surrounded by beautiful mountains, the big volcano, and a pretty lake with a black sand beach. I also went hiking in the mountains & river rafting, which were both quite fun. It was a great town to visit!
