I quite liked the choice of food, but not the prices of it. I was excited to eat Indonesian food again after travelling there a few times years ago, it’s so hard to find compared to Thai food in most countries.

Can I ask a question about this place? Is it common practice for men in Amsterdam to approach female tourists in the hope of getting sex? It seemed to happen to me a few times, I wasn’t sure if they were geniune or if it’s just what guys do there.

Three words. Tou. Rist. Trap. The equivalent of London’s Leicester Square, but much smaller.

Almost impossible to avoid as it’s very central. Go to Nieuwmarkt (near Central Station) for a better experience of Amsterdam life, or go to de Pijp, much cooler (closer to Amstel Station).

Leidseplein with its street musicians, actors, mediocre restaurants, bars, tourist info, trams, shops, etc., etc. is probably the most horrible place to visit frequently in Amsterdam. HOWEVER, it must be visited at least once, and as it lies close to a few major attractions – like the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Vondel Park, it becomes a place you will involuntarily wander through…
