I didn’t get to meet a real geisha, but I did see the back of one!

It’s pretty cool being so close to Kiyomizu temple. I would say, take a bus and walk to Kiyomizu until around 5 and then walk through Gion.

I didn’t get to see any geisha….:(

Wandering around at like, 5-6pm – best time to spot Geisha! We bumped into this Maiko who had just nipped down a backstreet with her minder, and she very kindly posed with us for photos. Hurrah!

I’ve travelled a fair few places in Japan, but this was one of the best places. The whole area is just like old Japan. The view is best at night (although the photos don’t do it justice). It’s a magical place where you can see a Maiko from across the river underneath a blooming Sakura tree. Definately in my top 3.
