Folly Beach

We discovered this beach on accident and we thoroughly enjoyed it! There is a lot of things to see that we didn’t get to last time. So, it is on our list of places to go back to.

We are only about 2 hours from there so it is something we can do on the spur of the moment.

We are also thinking about moving there in the future.

Best kept secret on the east coast. Folly is fantastic at any time of the year. It’s quiet, but there’s tons of stuff to do. No huge hotels or resorts, just a nice, laid back beach town. The pier is great!

Folly Beach is nice quiet residential Island. No condos, no big hotels. We want to keep it a secret.

in the middle of the night from Athens, GA was a late night drive to Folly Beach to see the sun rise over the Atlantic. There are great little seafood restaurants and a delicious breakfast diner I always stumbled into, even though I never remembered its name. And even when we slept on the beach, the people who lived there never ran us off- one older gentleman walking his dog in the a.m. even let us know we should move our car to a new hiding spot, so the police wouldn’t ticket it after 9.

We lived right on the beach for over a year ….

And it was amazingly cheap. If you rented by the year there it was less expensive than renting a dump here in California!

Small town and great people. The local hangout was the “Sandollar” LOL
