Ruby Falls

i swear this place was in the middle of nowhere tennessee but it was really cool. i went here with my class on our class trip to atlanta and tennessee and it was amazing. first we went down on an elevator, something like 360 feet below the surface, and walked through interesting formations and came upon this huge chamber with high ceilings. we couldnt see where we were going and then these dark purple lights shone in front of us. and there was the most beautiful waterfall i had ever seen! i felt like some parts of the cave were too, i dont know, touristy. there were tvs and signs and voice recordings it interrupted the natural beauty.

crowded trek to and from the falls, and the “lightshow” at the falls makes it look like an artificial waterfall.

Obviously, if you’re claustrophobic, this may not be the best place to go. You drive way up the mountain to reach it, then take a long elevator ride to reach the cavern.

But I’ve visited twice, both as a kid and as an adult, and it was fun both times. The cave is scenic, and Ruby Falls is impressive. It’s also very loud… The light show of the falls is cool, but I think the falls are beautiful naturally lit. (Of course, I am a sucker for waterfalls, so I may not be the most impartial person to ask!)

Well worth visiting at least once!
