Worth visiting!

Not open to the public

But today we were able to tour the house as part of the annual Frank Lloyd Wright conservancy meeting. We were rushed through at extreme speed but every second was worth it. The entry way was dark and low (6’8”) with light streaming down the stairs leading to the main room so you knew just where to go – typical Wright. The view was incredible & there is a mosiac of wisteria made from glass tiles above the fireplace that is captivating. Since there is so much damage due to earthquakes and the crumbling bricks we had to stand outside while waiting for our bus. Some of the people from the site who are working on trhe restorarion showed us how the bricks were and made woven together (hence the term textile blocks). The original blocks cost .79/each and now they cost $250-$300/each.
