A review of this place: Finding yourself in the "Evergreen Bubble"  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

Because that’s what it is… a bubble. Sometimes it’s a good thing, sometimes it’s bad, but whatever your take is upon living within it, no one can deny that it changes you. Evergreen is a place of change. Nothing exists unaffected. If you are unaffected, then you’ll hate it here. There is no room for apathy.

Evergreen is a beautiful, liberal arts college that offers a unique experience using interdisciplinary learning (see: no grades) and evaluations to shape education. Evergreen is a place where you get exactly what you put into your education. Some people will attend, slack off and skim through their entire education… and have a poor transcript but a degree to show for it. Others will work their butts off, investing time and caring, and push themselves… and they will emerge unrecognizable. They will excel and thrive.

No grades you say? It’s not easy… evaluations written by your professor as well as yourself, are more telling than a simple letter could ever be. Do all the work but miss tons of class? Your absences will be mentioned, possible credit will be docked… Accountability is key and personal responsibility is a must.

Overall, amazing. I am currently an Elderly Sophomore and loving every minute I spend at Evergreen.

I only made it a year going to school here, but it’s a fun place to visit. It’s a weird little world at Evergreen, I miss it sometimes.

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

So rainy here, if you’re not used to it, and you live on campus, it is a good idea to get out at least once a week, so you don’t freak out. The scenery can be daunting after you have a bad experience, since everything looks so similar and everything is so similarly built. Overall though it is really a nice place to be.

What can I say? I graduated without having to write more than one paper a year! Oh, but the evaluations.

Go, Geoducks go,
Through the mud and the sand,
let’s go.
Siphon high, squirt it out,
swivel all about,
let it all hang out.

Go, Geoducks go,
Strech your necks when the tide
is low
Siphon high, squirt it out,
swivel all about,
let it all hang out.

i attend school here  — 2 years ago

Worth visiting!

TESC is a nice college so far. This is my first quarter here, with five more quarters to go before graduation. So far so good.

My only complaints are that everyone here seems to do drugs and party a lot, which are definitely not my scenes. Also, the loud hippie drum circles get a little irritating (of course, I live on campus).

Overall, Evergreen is a great and cheap state-school with a very unique take on higher education. If you’re in anyway “alternative” or interested in an alternative take on a traditional four-year college, you should think about attending Evergreen.

Also, it’s just super awesome that our school mascot is the geoduck.
