Kaikoura

I’ve rarely been so sick on a boat as I was on the whale watching excursion, but catching a glimpse of the whales more than made up for it. My photos suck, but the image is still there in my mind.

I was really charmed by the little town of Blenheim nearby, too.

Where to start? How about great vistas? There is certainly that with snowcapped mountains by the sea. There is great wildlife and unique tours like whale watching (Sperm whales) and swimming with seals and dolphins. The town is small, pleasant and with a little bit of history. Best of all? Great seafood to top off everything. Accommodation can be very cheap in shoulder season.

I went swimming with the fur seals in Kaikoua. It was AMAZING! It was in the wild, off the coast, and at one point I looked around and there were 8 seals swimming around me. A definite once in a lifetime experience.

Best place on earth

Really cool down with some awesome things to do. Went fishing and saw a few dolphins plus checked out the kaikoura roots festival.
If you come to the south island it is def. worth a visit.
