Worth visiting!
i practically lived here as a child
The Yorkshire Dales is my fave place on Earth. It has everything that i desire Countryside, mountains (sort of, the 3 peaks are pretty cool), Potholes (lots of potholes), pubs and the best icecream ever!!! when i was younger me, my dad, his best friend and his daughter used to go and stay in a fab pub every weekend called the Hill Inn, which had GREAT entertainment but its no longer run by the same man! Anyway we would stay in the pub or camp in the carpark(very exotic)which was right in between two of the three peaks. Then we would get up and go potholing down some of the nastiest holes ever and i would be absailing away at the ages of 7 and 8 and would look around and see men of 20 and 30 crying and i would laugh so much, been a child in the dales was phenomenal it was the biggest playground ever!!!

at pately bridge we rambled on the moors until it got so dark we could barely make it back. we saw an exploded sheep up there, and live sheep, and some red grouse. the innkeeper was very kind and had a stuffed grommit guarding the stairs. pately bridge also had the best indian food i’ve ever tasted, hands down.
harrogate was very disappointing.
in thirsk we visited the james herriot museum (he has been my idol since i was small) and i got eaten by a horse.

Why I recommend this place to visitors
There is something for everyone in the Yorkshire Dales. If you like adrenaline sports such as rock-climbing, potholing (spelling?), rafting etc. this is the place for you. This is also a good place for aesthetical people who love moody countryside and rolling hills coated in heather. There’s also the great coastal towns of Whitby and Scarborough. Also, for English Lit fans you can follow in the footsteps of the characters in the great novels Wuthering Heights and Dracula.

The last time I went to this place
I used to go pot-holing and caving in the Yorkshire Dales every couple of months when I was younger (I’m talking, like, 3 years old) but then when my family fell apart we stopped going… that was about 6 years ago (I’m 15 now). I can’t wait until I’m 16 though, because once I’ve taken my CBT, I’m going back to the Dales! =)
To all those considering a visit… DO IT!!! It’s well worth the journey! I promise you, you won’t be disappointed! =)
