How this place changed my life — 4 weeks ago
Worth visiting!
I taught English at a summer school here in 2001. This was my first proper experience of a foreign culture. It really changed my perspective!

I just went here a couple of days ago. I spent about 2 days there. It was really really great! Of course, went out to see the Terracotta Warriors and dropped by the Huaqing Hot Springs. My favorite part, though, was the Muslim Quarter. It was so lively, and there was so much to see. I also met some really cool people in Xi’An.
I wouldn’t mind going back, maybe even living there for awhile!

This place is number 1 because I think I will travel to this place next.
I want to see the terracotta warriors, obviously. I want to check out the Muslim Quarter and the old city walls.
I also want to eat lots of Muslim food!

I would never advocate a trip to China without a stop in Xi’an. It’s an amazing place, full of history and charm!

I loved it. I was a little skeptical at first, stone warriors?
AMAZING. totally worth it. If you can, rent a bike and bike around the outter wall, fun times. The food is amazing, pretty much anywhere in China, but you neet to know where to eat. To me, the trick is in the streets.

if you like history and different kinds of food, you should go to xi’an to have a short vacation.

I should have known better.
As the largest city in NW China, Xi’an isn’t a cow (or camel) town, but I was nevertheless startled at how modern and cosmopolitan it is. On many of the tree-lined major boulevards you’ll find expensive and stylish shops, hotels, and restaurants.
The other big surprise for me was the large size of the original walled city. The Inner City is surrounded by a wall which is over 13 km (8.5 miles) in total length. From where we climbed onto it (at the South gate), we could not see either end of the wall.
If you want to see more than a fraction of it, the best way is to rent a bike and ride around the wall.

“I will be spending 2-3 days in Xi'an in October. I'd like to stay in a central location where I can get transport to Terracotta Warriors, Muslim Quarter, etc. Any suggestions for moderately-priced hotels?”
