Bethesda

I got here every year for SPX (The Small Press Expo). Good times had with fellow cartoonists, and the weather is always perfect in October.

I worked in Bethesda for years. I don’t know if I would say it’s a tourist destination by any means, but it’s a nice place (although expensive) to work or live.

If you go to Bethesda, make sure you’ve gone to the ATM first. There isn’t much good cheap fun, but there are a lot of great restaurants.
I spent half of my paycheck on a dinner in Bethesda once. Even though I only work part time as a grocery store cashier, that’s a lot of money.
If you like the finer things in life, Bethesda is for you. If you enjoy slightly trashier, cheaper areas (like myself) search farther east in Silver Spring and Wheaton.

As others have mentioned, there are many great restaurants. The Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema is a good place to check out independent films. You can also pick up the Crescent Trail near the Honda dealership across from the Barnes and Noble book store. If you work in the area, there are great places for happy hour. The Bethesda library on Arlington is decent. The nightlife, in general, is non existant, unless you are hungry and want to have a few drinks.

I’m not really sure why anyone would come here other than to visit family, or because they live in the area… but I’m from the area, good places to eat and they have a good independent film theatre.

...but sometimes a good meal at a restaurant creates a good enough impression. So, having swam at a community college pool with a Masters team one Saturday morning recently in nearby Silver Springs, dinner that night was back out to the suburbs, to Jaleo in Bethesda.

I have no doubt that the place has its detractors for the crowds, the waiting for tables, but darn it, I liked the food. Great tapas. Well worth it, and I will happily go back.

It is a good place to live as there is a lot to do and many places to eat.

Most educated city in America.

Especially worth visiting NIH and Glen Echo Park

lived here very very briefly.
