A tip I have about this place
If you go here, they will show you the big telescope. However, and I think they kind of downplay this, but that is not the one they used to discover Pluto. To see that one, you have to take a small path up the hill behind the building next to the main observatory. Since that’s what this place is best known for, make sure you check it out before you leave.

The first time I went to this place
The first time I went to the Lowell Observatory I really didn’t realize how far up it really was. The portions of the observatory that we were able to see were really interesting, and really high up in the mountains. I only went during the day, on a typical overcast snowy day in January in Flagstaff. The tour guide was friendly and helpful without being overwhelming, and he even sported the whole ‘mad scientist’ look, which I find rather amusing. I would recommend this place to almost anybody, the only exception would be to those who are unable to handle heights or steep walkways, as portions of the terrain are rather steep.
