Sonoma is beautiful!!

I just came back from a wedding in Healdsburg – at Trentadue Winery. It was BEAUTIFUL…and had great wine.

A couple of other good ones – ARISTA. My favorite of the wineries I visited. Gorgeous landscape. Nice people. Great wine.

Rochioli, Gary Farrell, De La Montanya.

The Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma is an amazing place to visit. The spa treatments are incredible and they have a beautiful golf course. Book well in advance since they book up quickly. The Mission Suites were beautiful.

Wonderful little city. Go now!

Don’t visit on a summer weekend, unless you enjoy traffic and crowds. Save your visits for off-season – Sonoma can be wonderful in early spring (Feb-Mar) or late fall (Oct-Nov).

Check out a winery tour (we went to Benziger’s with cool under-hill caves) and do a lunch (we went to The Fig Cafe). Make sure you taste some vintages!

Had a great time. If I went back I’d concentrate on organic wineries.

We had a family gathering at a lovely rental home in Sonoma County near Geyserville, and it will stand out in my mind as one of the happiest weekends of my life. Most of that had to do with family, but the setting was terrific for good conversation, good food, good wine, and a lot of love.

We hired a guide for a winery tour, and he was very helpful. I thought I knew a bit about wine, and I did, but I learned a LOT more. Absolutely terrific weekend.

I was just there for the day and didn’t get to see much, but we did enjoy the Gundlach Bundschu winery immensely and had excellent sparkling wine at Gloria Ferrer. Also went to the Sonoma Enoteca in town but nothing special there. The town of Sonoma itself is much like Paso Robles, very small with a central square, very quaint.

During advanced electronics training, I spent a year living on Skaggs Island which was a nature preserve at the north end of San Francisco Bay.
