Plettenberg Bay

When I was growing up, my grandfather had a modest holiday home here, and this was were we spent every possible holiday.

I love the mountains in the area, and the sea, and the golden beaches. I love the view from Granzgot’s pizza place on the top of the hill (is it even still there?), and fishing from Robberg Mountain, which stretches so far into the sea. I love watching the tides change over the sunken ship in the bay.
Oh! and, eating crumpets at the Singing Kettle in Keurbooms.

I went back recently, and took my husband, who was completely unimpressed. Plett is no longer the place I remember – but it is still beautiful, and absolutely rocks over the December (summer) holidays.
