22 aka: 22 Doors

22 weeks ago I liked 22 Doors but last night we stopped in for a quick drink before dinner and no one could be bothered to serve us. After five minutes of no luck flagging down a waitress we left. (They weren’t at all busy.) Coastal Kitchen got our business instead.

I’m going there right now!

You could easily walk right on by 22 Doors. And you’d never know there is a great patio hidden in the back for outdoor eating and drinking. We stopped here tonight before dinner at Osteria La Spiga on Daniel’s advice and had a great experience. My Bombay Sapphire martini was generously sized and properly formulated. A nice, though somewhat awkward, plate of olives and garlic complimented the drinks. The atmosphere was refined and comfortable.

What a great addition to 15th Ave. I hope to go back for dinner some time soon.

Next to Victrola on 15th Ave in the old Jack’s space, this building has been empty for years and I’ve always wondered when someone would open another restaurant in it. One of the best things about 22 Doors is the space — large skylight, intimate outdoor courtyard and nice open windows. Last night I had a beer and burger. The burger was exceptional. The folks who own/operate 22 Doors seems to be on top of it — so the service was attentive but not smothering. All-in-all a great experience for having been open for 4 days.

22 Doors fills a nitch in the neighborhood: adult cocktails, quality bar dinners, higher end atmosphere, opens at 5pm daily. Good luck 22D!
