Superb volcanic island! by DHARMA_9

I love Lanzarote. I´ve been there many times already but always want to return as in every visit I discover a new surprising place. Do not miss Timanfaya National park, Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río and Cueva de los Verdes, enjoy its spectacular beaches such as Papagayo and Famara, visit the fishing villages and taste the local food and wines. It is very easy to enjoy your holidays in a place like this.

I have been many times to Lanzarote already. The scenery is just to special and the island has a special place in my heart. I try to return every year :)

I have often been on organized tours with the travel agent I go with, but last time I went, I joined another group. I honestly don’t remember the name anymore, but it was mainly for German tourists. I myself speak Flemish, English and a bit of French, but no German. But Flemish and German have the same origin, so luckily I was able to understand almost everything.

Either way, this group visited the cactus garden of Manrique, a small pitoresque village, amazing nature scenes and the pre-park of Timanfaya. Especially the pre-park is amazing. In Timanfaya you are not allowed outside of tour busses, but this is not so in the pre-park. We walked over the lavastones and inside the crater of an old volcano, saw craters from up close and all. It really is a tip of mine to try and find a tour which visits this pre-park and walks with you between the volcanoes.

If you can not understand a bit of German, it might be a problem. But maybe there are other tours doing the same in another language.

I went to Costa Teguise a couple of summers ago and had a great time, I’d definitely recommend Lanzarote for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday break in the sun!
