A review of this place

I do appreciate what Cesar Manrique has done for this Island. He has definitely made it more attractive than it would be however I don’t like the landscape at all. It’s not for me. It’s essentially a mass of gravel. I do think the beaches are nice, so it’s nice for a short stay but I think even my 5 days were more than enough. I’ve been told it’s the prettiest Canary Island (though some say La Palma is) so i’m not sure if I will visit the rest. I did enjoy the Grand Tour around the place – it was very good (if a little expensive) and the hotel I stayed in – Timanfaya Palace – had a great buffet restaurant full of great food. At least I had that. No offense to anyone who loves it because I know there are many who do but it just wasn’t for me.

A tip I have about this place

I have been many times to Lanzarote already. The scenery is just to special and the island has a special place in my heart. I try to return every year :)

I have often been on organized tours with the travel agent I go with, but last time I went, I joined another group. I honestly don’t remember the name anymore, but it was mainly for German tourists. I myself speak Flemish, English and a bit of French, but no German. But Flemish and German have the same origin, so luckily I was able to understand almost everything.

Either way, this group visited the cactus garden of Manrique, a small pitoresque village, amazing nature scenes and the pre-park of Timanfaya. Especially the pre-park is amazing. In Timanfaya you are not allowed outside of tour busses, but this is not so in the pre-park. We walked over the lavastones and inside the crater of an old volcano, saw craters from up close and all. It really is a tip of mine to try and find a tour which visits this pre-park and walks with you between the volcanoes.

If you can not understand a bit of German, it might be a problem. But maybe there are other tours doing the same in another language.

A review of this place

I went to Costa Teguise a couple of summers ago and had a great time, I’d definitely recommend Lanzarote for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday break in the sun!
