A tip I have about this place

The Yukon is a great place to visit.

If you want to travel to somewhere really cool in Canada pick Dawson City. You have to join Capt. Dick’s world famous “Sourtoe Cocktale” club.

All you have to do is put a frost bitten toe of a miner into your drink and down it until the toe touches your lips. Pretty cool, eh? The girl who did it before me was being cheered on by her boyfriend and actually had it in her mouth. I wouldn’t put it into my mouth but it did touch my lips – it’s quite the ugly toe. Anyway I’m a card carrying member now (#10523) with all the rights and privileges that goes along with it (there aren’t many).

Trek Over The Top 2006

We rode the snowmachines over the highway this year from Tok, AK to Dawson City YT. See: http://www.trekoverthetop.com/ A long 200 mile run each way, a stop in-between in Chicken and Boundary and then on in to Dawson. It was damn cold going in, they told us it was -37f when we rolled into town! Other than the brutal cold on the first day it was a good trip. Saw lots of neat stuff and shows and can say been there, done that, got the shirt, ‘n we may do it again!

AMAZING

It still feels like 1900. There are only three franchise companies in this town, CIBC, Home Hardware and Shell. The rest is all little private business’. I was there working on a gold mine and I want to go back for vacation so bad!

The river’s really nice. My grandparents won a whole bucket of quarters gambling here. Somehow, Dawson City and Edmonton are connected by the gold rush, I’m sure of it.
