Why I want to go to this place — 4 days ago
On July 11, 2010, there will be a total solar eclipse, and it will pass through the Cook Islands.
With some luck and planning, I will be there!

Um, who wouldn’t want to go to this place. From photos I’ve seen the water is amazingly clear azure blue, the sky goes on for freaking ever. It is, in my opinion, paradise on earth. So there.

If you need relaxation mixed with adventure, this is the place to go. If I could live here, I would. It’s that good. Make sure to visit some of the smaller islands while you’re here. It’s well worth the small amount you pay. Take lots of pictures because no one will believe how nice it is otherwise.

I first heard of Rarotonga about 10 years ago when an elderly gentleman that used to come into the pub I worked in brought in a piece of paper he had been given on one of his many visits there. It spoke about the huts, the people and the animals. It advised him to go see the boat repair guy if he wanted to borrow a cycle – no charge – not to leave windows or doors open unless you want to be visited by the two local cats, that if it was wet there was a liklihood your door wouldn’t close properly due to warping. It sounded so rustic and laidback – bliss. That elderly gentleman loved it so much he went every year. I hope I get to visit there once at least in my lifetime.

I wanna go to Cook Island because my friend William Numanga is a cook islander and he lives there. Also, my neighbor Ioana Vaetoru is from Cook Island as well. Also, I looked at Cook Island photos in the internet and became fascinated by the beautiful beaches and sea.

Chris and I honeymooned in Rarotonga and Aitutaki. It was wonderful! If you visit, I recommend going straight to Aitutaki and going on a Lagoon Cruise. The snorkelling is fabulous, and the islands are completely beautiful. If you have an underwater camera or casing for your camera, bring that, too!!

Once again another great islands with very friendly people. Feels much more often the beaten track than its neighbours Fiji and the likes. Though it is small enough to get around and feel safe on your own, there is still loads to do even if you just stay on Raratonga, the main land.
You’ll enjoy it if you like culture, music, beaching and relaxing.
