Park City & Heber City  — 4 weeks ago

    Worth visiting!

I made my first trip to Park City in 2003 for a friend’s wedding in Deer Valley. Then I made the second trip in 2007 for the Sundance Film Festival, and completely fell in love with the place. I was lucky enough to stay with a friend who has a gorgeous cabin in nearby Heber City. I went with the same group of friends in 2008, again for the festival, and we’ve decided to go every year. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, and it’s so interesting seeing such a lot of activity going on in town in such cold weather. I had my first snowboarding experience here. I’m no expert, but I’m told the powder is excellent! It was between 2 degrees and 20 degrees the whole time we were there, both times, but the streets are full of people waiting to get in to movies and parties. Main Street, the heart of the festival, is all glammed up, but to see the real Utah life check out Heber city nearby with its cozy down-home rustic atmosphere.

One of the neatest places I’ve been, it’s the kind of place you wish you had a cabin for the winter so you could go write a book.

    Not worth it!

This place reeks all around bad vibes.
    Take the public bus.

Don't even think about driving around.

was the end destination on our cross-country adventure. actually, we really didn’t stop along the way as we were hauling two horses that had been sold there. and we only stayed two nights. but it was amazing. the entire trip. and despite the cold and gray skies that followed just about everywhere, it was awesome.

I’ve only been here in the summer for work. Seemed like a nice place the locals were friendly. The ski towns in Colorado cater to both summer and winter crowds. The summer here appears pretty much dead. Neat to see the olympic park though.

I won’t give it a “not worth visiting” because I’m sure it’s much better in the winter. I just don’t suggest visiting in the summer months.

Though the altitude made me physically ill, I liked Park City a lot for the following reasons:

    1. My beautiful and wonderful girlfriend lives there.
    2. There are mountains! I’ve never really been in mountains before.
    3. You can ski on the mountains! I’ve never been skiing before.
    4. Mormons? Yes. Cute.
    5. My beautiful and wonderful girlfriend lives there. :)

I’m from Texas, so I get excited about cheesy things like shopping at the outlet. I’ve been hiking a few times; hung out on Main St. etc. It’s a pretty charming town.

i recently visited park city for a family snowboarding trip. the weather was great. it snowed each night. the town was nice. i loved the free public transportation that i could take to main street to browse the shops. the mountain was overly crowded. lift lines were long. people were not very courteous on the trails. but, the snow was great! if you dont go during the busiest week ever (between christmas and new years) then maybe you wont have as crowded a time as i did.

My friend’s movie is being screened at the Sundance Film Festival in a couple of weeks, and so I will be going out there to support him. I can’t wait!
