Great Salt Lake

I went swimming in the lake. I was expecting the salt and to float a little better. What surprised me was the sea brine.

The salt flats and the salt lake can only be compared to what it would look like on another planet!!

When I was a kid my parents would go on long road trips throughout the SouthWest. A few times we’d stop by the Great Salt Lake. I remember one time it was windy and my Dad and I went walking out into the lake. Hundreds of yards out and the trough of each wave was between my calf and ankle but the peaks were over my head! Admittedly, I was only about 40 inches or so at the time. :)

I drove a truck onto a jetty to pick up a load of… magnesium or something? It was so strange…
Actually, the whole place is very strange and interesting.

I think in middle school, maybe younger and my family had taken a vacation to Utah. I remember going to the Great Salt Lake and thinking that it looked like you could just walk on water there. The smell wasn’t that great, but the beauty of it was amazing!
