The last time I went to this place

Driving from Portland, Maine to New York City I went to the North End to check out Mike’s Pastry. Normally I would do Quincy Market but I wasn’t sure how late i would get in so I planned my first trip to Mike’s as It is open until 9pm.

I have been in Boston a lot, especially in recent years, but I don’t always have my car with me. Driving in the North End is particularly difficult as it has streets that are only about 2 horse carriages wide, some streets can only fit one car.

It’s a great area, and even though I was alone I had a great time in the hour I spent taking a break from the road.

Boston is a small city, geographically, you could walk most of it if you had the time to kill, the North End is a spot that is not to be missed if you want to see the real Boston.

A tip I have about this place

There’s so much good food on Hanover Street, you gain weight just walking along all the restaurants and pastry shops!

Mmm desserts.

This was my favorite part of Boston. Lots of restaurants, pastry shops, etc. Don’t visit Boston without coming here.

We go every summer for the St. Anthony’s Feast, now a tradition with us. Always the last weekend in August, try to go on a weekday to avoid some of the insane crowds. Mike’s Pastry on Hanover for cannolis (and their tiramisu isn’t bad, either!)
