Pueblo magico / Magical place
The town is famous for the remains of a temple built on top of the nearby Tepozteco mountain, as well as for the exotic ice-cream flavours prepared by the townspeople. Tepoztlán is derived from Nahuatl and means “place of abundant copper.” This is derived from the words tepozt-tli (copper) and tlan (“place of/place of abundance”). If you like Mexican culture, you should definitely go there. It’s a wonderful experience!

A review of this place: Very different.
A much more mixed and liberal culture than other parts of Mexico. There are lots of great street vendors, a nice hike up to ancient ruins overlooking the town, a mural wall made out of beans, hippy shops selling buddhas and incense and just all around nice locals.

A tip I have about this place
Tepoztlán —or “Tepoz” as locals refer to it as a nickname— is just a very short trip from Mexico City or Cuernavaca, and it is absolutely worth it.
This is one of my favorite towns in all of Mexico. Very picturesque :) And with all the magnificent mountains around it, the energy is astounding!

A tip I have about this place
Tepoztlan is the best. Go on a Sunday when the craft market is going on. Try to climb to the Tepozteco temple, it’s got a fantastic view. It’s best undertaken in the dry season (Oct-May)
