We had been foolish enough to not check the weather reports before leaving, in fact we hadn’t really planned the trip at all, it was just a jump in the car and go, spur of the moment road trip. We made it half way up the mountain when a blizzard started and dumped about 3 feet of snow on us. It was one of the most fun times we ever had! I’d love to do it again. over 6 years agoHike It. by gone_walkaboutIt’s best to hike this great mountain. Hike up the the Lakes of the Clouds for 1 night, then hike down Tuckerman Ravine. Be sure to have 3+ layers, as it may snowing up top, even in in July. over 6 years agoUntitled by travelchicaThe weather is unpredictable and it can get VERY windy (70mph winds) so dress accordingly. The view from the summit is beautiful and you feel like you’re in the middle of the clouds. It is very rocky and reminds me of the landscape in Iceland (rocks with moss). You feel like you’re walking on the moon or some foreign planet. over 6 years agoSee all 27 entries |
