Boothbay Harbor

Beautiful place. I’ve lived there for two years.. it gets pretty boring for that long..
Definately go to at least one of the boat trips – whale watching, lighthouse tours or island cruises – watever suits you best. Don’t skip the trip to Ocean Point(East Boothbay).. The Ocean Point Inn is a pretty decent place with a great view if you enjoy that..
Check out the food at Lobsterman’s Wharf, the little hot dog shoppe, the fudge factory and, of course, the numerous bars(36 was the count a few years ago).. There are over 40 inns around town so it’s easy to find something in your price range.. Another good idea is to try to come whenever there’s a festival going on(pretty much every week during the summer)..

Beautiful scenery… The food isn’t ideal for a vegetarian, but they have a good fudge and ice cream shoppe! The aquarium is interesting here too.. A boat tour is a must..

This is really a picturesque place. There are many restaurants with an ocean view, b&b’s, tours, schooner trips, whale watching, roadside eateries, quaint shops, golf courses, #1 vacation spot in Maine! You must stay at the Spruce Point Inn (website)...it is nestled on a private penninsula right on the ocean, 4 star accomodations.

There are twenty or more art galleries on the Boothbay Peninsula. The town is also developing a unique location for the performing arts at the historic Opera House. A local ferry visits Monhegan Island daily….a place where the Wyeths have summered and Zero Mostel spent quality time.

Boothbay Harbor is very picturesque, and can be quite crowded in the summertime, but it’s quaint and very New England
