A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Like everybody else, I recommend the food and shopping. The Indian place on the lower level is fantastic. Greatest mango lassis I’ve ever had.

It may seem odd to rant and rave about something of this nature, but the food court at Union Station is to die for. I’m serious. You wouldn’t believe.

This is a great place for food and shopping. You have to get cocoa at Godiva. The inside of this place is amazing and it is still a train station. Awesome.

Enjoyable place to visit  — 3 years ago

For DC locals, Union Station is primarily a transit hub and a shopping mall. Host to Metro, Amtrak, Virginia Railway Express, and MARC, it is an important part of getting around in the DC area. Additionally, there are several standard mall shops on the second and third floors; these are not necessarily for persons in transit (unless you suddenly need to get something at Victoria’s Secret before you travel…) but rather they are convenient shopping for those who don’t wish to make the trek to the suburbs. Also of note is the large food court on the bottom floor, which was originally part of the Union Station’s Visitor Center during the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976. With outstanding variety and convienent Metro access, the food court is popular with local workers as well as school groups in town for a tour.

Beautiful building  — 3 years ago

Not a bad place to kill a few hours while waiting for a train. For that matter, we once spent several hours there because we were going to a hockey game later that night, and it was too cold to venture outside. Restaurant choices range from fast food to an upscale food court to fine sit-down dining. Connected to train and the subway lines.

My metro stop  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

For the Summer of 1993, I was an intern at the GAO (General Accounting Office) and this was my Metro stop and where I ate lunch nearly everyday. Interns in DC - a right of passage! I want to go back (to being 21, and DC).

    It's a pretty building  — 3 years ago

The building itself is grand, and very beautiful. There are lots of shops there, and the Metro, Amtrak, trains, and a movie theater.
