Mono Lake

I was born near the lake and I like such places a lot…

We went kayaking and had stopped for lunch on the shore… the day was brezzy but warm… so we decided to go swimming… rather difficult because the water made us float more so than usual… the only thing was that after we had dried off we had this nice lovely white stuff on our skin… probably the carbonate stuff… it was great!

The lake itself is amazing, very unique and beautiful, and such an interesting ecosystem. It’s near Yosemite as well, if you can brave Tioga pass, so the whole area is definitely worth a visit.

This is one of the places in California that I’ve intended to go for years and years… WAY off the beaten path, but by all accounts amazing.

On your way from Yosemite you need to stop in Mono Lake for lunch/dinner. There’s a great burger shop that’s toward the official Mono Lake musuem. After a great burger, fries and shake head to the south end of the lake. If you have a sports car it’s almost time to open it up. You make the left turn off the main highway onto a fast two lane road to the lake entrance. Have fun and it’s not so hot at sunset and great picture taking time at sunset.

My husband and I were married on the shores of Mono Lake. I highly recommend a visit!

One of my favourite places in the entire world….

there isn’t TOO much to see, and it is rather hot…
but it’s an interesting place, a nice stop on the way.

My husband and I spent a few hours here during our road trip in the spring of 2004.

I stopped at Mono Lake on the way back from Mammouth Mountain and the place was very beautiful. What’s wild about Mono Lake are the Brine Flies. They are everywhere, but they don’t bite.
