Hmm by jmose

Seems like the longer a place is on my list, the more dissapointed I am when I actually get there.

I finally made it to the cloisters and while the doorways and potals were amazing, I was just somehow dissapointed. I saw some interesting pieces, so i’m not sure why I was let down.

Maybe it was the $40 suggested donation (for 2). Maybe it was the obnoxious tourists, a security guard had to tell one man to not touch an item 3 times while the man argued with him saying “it’s not posted that he can’t touch”, and another woman asking “where is it posted that I cant chew gum!”

It was a beautiful day and we had a nice walk. Make sure you wear comfy shoes because it’s a bit of a hike from the A train station.

I added the Cloisters to my list last year. I’m more intrigued to visit after catching a few glimpses of them in a fun little movie on TV last night called Keeping the Faith.

You just feel as if you are a monk in the 12th century. by cranberrygoddess

Who would’ve guessed they’d stick a medieval european monastery in the middle of a park in Inwood in the 1930s?

I was excited by the prospect of unicorns, only to discover they were all being stabbed to death by men with swords. This horrified me, and yet peaked some kind of morbid fascination.

Great surroundings too.
