If you want to talk about gentrification, come down to Barracks Row. There are new restaurants, stores, and all kinds of new things opening up down here. It’s where the Marine Barracks are (hence the name) and the Payless Shoes is gone, replaced by a Starbucks (imagine that), most of the divy places have been replaced by restaurants. It’s undergone a drastic change in the past 3 years.
