George Eastman House

..I wouldn’t visit it if I wasn’t.

I spent a long time while I was there, other than looking at the daguerreotypes, was why a man would have such a beautiful house and bright future.. commit the unspeakable.

Then it hit me even harder because curiosity got to me, and I found out he had Parkinson’s amongst other things. My grandfather’s in the late stages of it, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Loved the experience otherwise though, definitely worth going to if you’re a photonut. :)

but my favorite thing about the Eastman House is the Dryden Theater.

excellent films old and new, classics, cult films, foreign, indie, visiting film makers, special events… amazing!

I love the way the curtain in front of the screen slowly rises as the house lights dim.

One of the very best things about Rochester

The George Eastman House is located on East Avenue in Rochester and houses quite a bit of history in the photographic industry. The tour is pretty short, but doesn’t cost much, and is worth the time if you’re nearby.
