OSV is cool if you like history, but I grew up nearby and as a tourist attraction the town is overrated. I guess people like to go there in the fall to see the foliage and stuff, but there must be other cooler places in MA to do that.

Was dragged along on some field trip at age 5; probably wouldn’t go again voluntarily. Yawn. On the other hand, I may not have a choice, since all buses going from points south to Boston seem to stop here as a rest stop.

Sturbridge is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It is home to Old Sturbridge Village living history museum and other sites of historical interest such as Tantiusques and the Crowd Site.

First things first: Sturbridge and Old Sturbridge Village aren't a single entity. The former is an organic community, populated by working people with real lives. But why are there so many motels and restaurants in a town of fewer than 8,000 residents? That's because of the latter, a fabricated early-19th-century village comprised of authentic buildings moved here from other locations and peopled by docents pretending to follow the pursuits of 170 years past. It is deservedly popular, one of the two most prominent tourist destinations in central Massachusetts.
