Cooperstown Baseball Hall Of Fame — 11 months ago
Worth visiting!
It was nice and the town is very beautiful, but I wish they had more interactive and imaginative exhibits, like Toronto’s Hockey Hall Of Fame.

was last year during the inductions. I went because my favorite player, Ryne Sandberg, got in. It was cool. Although the town was clearly overwhelmed by induction weekend, it was well worth it. A tip though: unless you REALLY want to see whoever get inducted, DO NOT go during induction weekend. It is much more expensive, crowded, and less enjoyable. Cooperstown really is a nice town, but with too many people it kind of looses that effect. Definitely worth seeing the HOF though!

There is a lot to see in the Hall of Fame… I spent an entire day slowly perusing the legends and landmarks of baseball past. Even then, I missed the complete archives housed in a separate library. Who knows how long I would have stayed if I had the time… not only for the hall, but for the picturesque Cooperstown. Based right on Lake Otswego, there were numerous places to sit and just stare out at the water… or you could go and have a nice dinner overlooking the lake, or just walk the quaint streets. It’s a beautiful little town. Definitely worth a return visit for me.

Was when my kids were very little. We had a wonderful time. I would love to go again. You need more than 1 day to see it all.

So my father attempted to raise me as a Yankee fan. It worked until I was about 8 years old, but he never really taught me the game—he’d just bring me to Yankee Stadium and buy me all the dogs and ice creams I wanted.
Then I moved in full time with my mom. She is a serious Red Sox fan, who taught me about baseball itself and every questionable play called. I knew I would be a true Red Sox fan when I saw her kick a coffee table, breaking her toe, during the ‘86 World Series.
Considering my lifetime of baseball and baseball fans, it’s rather amazing to me that I’ve never actually been to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Now I’m going, on my own, to kick off my baseball stadium road trip.
I plan to take my time walking through every exhibit, but I’m most excited to see Sacred Ground, more than 200 artifacts that span more than 125 years of baseball history, dating back to wooden ballparks in the 19th century. I’m planning to journal about my little adventure, and I can’t think of a better way to start it off.

I went here a few days ago (02/06) and loved it! It was a great museum and a lot of fun to see the facts and stuff they had. My Dad and I only had about an hour and we had a good amount of time.

I am a baseball fan. A true fan. Not some SABRmetrician who thinks that baseball is best appreciated by statistical analysis. Nay, I am a fan of the other sort- baseball as mystical poetry.
Baseball has sounds and smells. It is tactile- the feel of leather and wood and horsehide against callused hands. Cold beer and a hot dog on a warm July night. Bronx cheers and spontaneous prayers.
And if baseball is a poem, Cooperstown is its Stratford-upon-Avon.

It’s been many many years, but it was just such a cool place. You don’t even have to like baseball to appreciate this place.
