I write this somewhat hesitantly…primarily because I’m not really sure I want others to find this incredible island…
Smallest piece of land in the world that is shared by two countries, the French and the Dutch. Little more than a marker lets you know when you’ve crossed in to the other country…but the differences become more obvious once you hit the stores. The French side is clearly more expensive and your dollar will go further on the Dutch side.
Sint Maarten and St. Martin are culinary wonders. The food is truly incredible and plentiful. Try Pizza and Pasta in Maho…Jimbo’s Rock and Blues Cafe on your way to Phillipsburg is incredibly good too.
Princess Juliana airport has grown-up with the new terminal now open and firing on all cylinders. It’s nice…and a lot easier to get through both coming and going.
I don’t even know where to begin with the beaches…they’re all incredible. Love that turquoise water…and it’s warm.
Billed as “the friendly island” we have a timeshare that brings us back every Christmas time and without fail, the promise of friendly locals holds true to form.
If I can find a way, I will move here.
