Alcatraz

An island with a lot of history. This was a tour that was well worth taking. It is long and very informative. The way it was presented covered not just the buildings, history, but you really got the feel of the place. A very meaningful experience!

Creepy, but way cool. I recommend seeing the classic “Escape From Alcatraz” and/or So I Married an Axe Murderer after visiting this place.

I went with Vince, Tawnya, and Michelle. It was a good trip.

I went with my first wife somewhere between the years of 1986-1988.

It’s the closest I ever intend to get to a prison.

I always go to SF but never have anyone to go with to The Rock, I need to go badly.

when we went to SF we also visited Alcatraz. Pretty interesting if you ask me.

I got some really great photos out at Alcatraz, and the audio tour was great, make sure you have a jacket for the ferry out there it gets very chilly!

The tour is self guided (audio), meaning you can take as long as you please taking photographs and just absorbing everything. This really translates to wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking around the place three times over up and down and you don’t want to go home with blisters.

Above all, bring a jacket. Alcatraz is located something like a mile out into the middle of the bay where wind really starts to pick up over the ocean. Even in the middle of the summer when I went, no matter how warm you may feel, it will be icy on that island.
