We pronounce it “AY-dee-gee” with the g like the g in massage. I want to move here. This is where my history lies.

A tiny, beautiful mountain city near Palermo on the western coast of Sicily. Make sure to pick up a Genovese (wonderful lemony pastry) from Maria Grammatico’s bakery, and be sure to see the castle and wander the tiny streets. Worth the drive.

Don’t miss Erice! It’s just over an hours drive from Palermo and is a very small and charming town on the top of a mountain. You can walk from one side of the town to the other in ten minutes and the town has changed little from the 1500’s.

Spectacular views, excellent restaurants, delightful hotels and quiet.

Highly recommended, but book early in the busy season (Easter through October).
