Grand Rapids

I’ve been here twice with my mom for the Judy Garland festival. It’s Judy’s home town. The museum has pretty much no security, no wonder the slippers were stolen. One day my sister and i were in there and nobody else was, so we played with all the really old stuff in the house. Everything it that house has been touched by me. I didn’t damage anything.

Last year my mom performed in Judy Garland’s house at the festival and brought the house down!

The beginning of the Mississippi River is there and there is a road from New Orleans all the way to Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

There are a lot of closet gays in that little city.

There are lots of small town things to do all around this area. Great area for outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, fishers and those who enjoy a nice homey bed and breakfast type of inn. Friendly small towns still exist all over the area, try small cafes instead of chains! Also, go for the small history museums all throughout the area – this area of MN is rich in railroad, mining and forestry history. Nearby Remer, MN was also the site of a WWII prisoner of war camp.

My home town…the GR in MN NOT MI! It’s also the home town of Judy Garland. Somebody stole the ruby slippers from the local museum last year. Did you? Great winter time fun, if you’re into X-C skiing & snowmobiling. Otherwise, summer & fall are the time to visit. Nowhere can beat the fall color of up Hwy. 38 last weekend of Sept.- first week Oct.

The forrests are beautiful here, the nature is thick here making it a nice retreat.
