Worth visiting!

Peace, perfect peace

I was taken to Nendrum as a coursework visit for my GCSE history in 1992!!

I have returned many times as the feeling of peace, tranquillity and yet potentially gorey history fascinate me. It is a place not to be missed as I am sure many have.

You’ve just gotta go

Worth visiting!

Nendrum Monastic site, Mahee Island, Strangford Coast

For someone who has now been ‘Too Long in Exile’ to quote Van Morrison, this place remains one of my favourites. On a peninsula sticking out into Strangford Lough, this ancient monastic site was a fantastic place to visit: peaceful, secluded, and at 4:00am always had birds singing. It’s not so far away from the other evocative places Van Morrison sings about in ‘Coney Island’.
