This is where I was open water certified. Definately worth the visit!

most people go to utila because they’re interested in cheap, professional scuba diving. i went because my friend was. we ended up making lots of new friends, exploring the countryside, participating in a beach cleanup, and talking with the natives about pirates and the island’s history. you’ll want to check out the endemic iguanas as well and the iguana research station as well. a real paradise, and, as of early 2006, hardly touched by the more negative aspects of international tourism. without concerted conservation efforts, i fear the island will be spoiled by overpopulation and poor resource management. right now, ecotourism is not in the island’s vocabulary. hope you enjoy my pics. the green eel was a real treat! sorry no pics of them mating, which happened after i put the camera away

It was great – spent a month and a half diving round the island

Everything in this island is just about diving, diving, diving. Had great experiences diving over there!

Fabulous beaches, private beaches, clear water, amazing hostels, incredible night diving.. what more could you ask for?
