I went here 17 years ago, as a 5 year old, with my grandparents. I loved the pueblos and the ‘old town’ feel. We hiked and saw gorgeous lakes, but most of all I just remember the beautiful endless desert and that real sense of seeing an old old town full of history (even if it was man-made, which I know some of it was and some of it wasn’t).

The first time I went to this place
Was for Spring Training in 2003. We stayed at the KOA Kampground and drove to Mesa for Cubs games. The KOA is nice.

How this place changed my life
I went to high school here, and graduated in 1986. A lot of firsts were accomplished here – my first boyfriend, car, apartment, son… I went back to visit a few years ago and it has changed so much. One thing that will always be the same is “my” mountain – the Superstitions are part of my heart.

Kovac's Korner
I was driving through Apache Junction, and spotted Kovac’s Korner as pictured on the back of The Refreshments “Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy.” It was so fun to see, especially since I wasn’t expecting it. :)
I don’t know if it’s still there. It was for sale a couple of years ago.
