i came to great falls a few years ago on an escapist trip after a fucked up break up, to visit my mum and brother. i ended up staying for three months, meeting the local punk rock kids, smoking ridiculous amounts of chronic and drinking 6.11 percent steele reserve which i had never even heard of living in the south for so long. i had a pretty great time.

the one way roads fucked me up a couple of times, but the bus system was neat, and sometimes you could ride for free. seemed like a good mixture of liberal and conservative type folks, lots of john kerry signs in yards, etc. there was a cool little shop called the venue which used to have shows and sell clothes and shoes and skate stuff, which is out of business since the last time i was there. the airport is a great place to get drunk and look out over the light line of the town, cause it’s a bluff and malmstrom air force base is a nuke base, so you can have fun imagining the end of the world if it hits you fancy, and i don’t see why it shouldn’t.

there were regular shows, a huge skate park, the dam was amazing during the right season, and at the time there were like maybe two patrolling night cops. a little too many reservation bums hanging out around the M&H, but bums can be fun if you’re careful.

there were a lot of cool kids, but in the end the group i hung out with seemed to suffer too strongly from small town syndrome, so i came back home. i’ve been back to visit my mum since i was headed northwest anyway, but didn’t really stay for long. pretty cool thrift stores, and M&H is really easy to steal from.

It's boring though? by deadritual

I suppose its nice to visit, and its the western art state capital of the world. But living here is boring. There’s not much to do or see, minus the nature trails and interesting tourist stuff. But that can only keep you busy for so long.

My Hometown by shellieb

I grew up in Great Falls, MT and I miss it so much! My folks still live there. Now I’m in Canada, but there’s no place like home! Hope to move back someday!
