All in all, a nice place to live. by wackfone
I’ve called Vista home since 1997. The climate is temperate, the downtown is revitalized and somewhat yuppified, yet the outskirts remain pleasantly horsey. Apartments are getting scarce. As a parent of a teen, I can attest that the high schools are extremely crowded. Voters passed a school construction bond a few years ago but property values have risen so fast that the funds are now inadequate. (We could never buy a home here now, as the median price is around $500K.) The Spanish-speaking demographic is very well represented here with many businesses to serve it. The County maintains a busy courthouse and jail here, and there are lots of law offices and bail bonds businesses. There is also a lovely restored adobe from the mid 1800’s that is open to the public. Many nice park facilities including a summer water park. Clean, quiet but small-ish library. Vista really does offer something for everyone, if you can afford to live here (snark).
