Accidently Joined a Tour  — 1 year ago

The cemetary is open to public strolling, which we did, and is also a destination for expensive guided tours, one of which was being conducted quite near our private stroll. The tour guide was incensed, felt like we were eavesdropping and insisted that we back off or pay $17 per person. To avoid such unseemly scenes in such a august place it is good to be alert to such tours and give them the courtesy of some space.

We went on a tour. I wasn’t a happy camper as I was soaking wet from being caught with no shelter at the zoo just beforehand. Nevertheless it was awe-inspiring to see all the graves. Plus, I’m a big Anne Rice fan :)

I took photos at lots of cemeteries in New Orleans, but my favorites were from here.

I shot this photo during Mardi Gras week in 2004.

I really enjoyed the tour (if you go, make sure you take the tour, it’s not safe otherwise)

I love Anne Rice and she’s been constantly talking about New Orleans and the cemetery and Lestat has grown fond of the place. Im in Love.
