Lerwick

Had a drink in the Thule a few times.

(I live in Cunningsburgh.) Its a nice town, especially when there is something big on – for example we hosted the Natwest Island Games last week and there was such a carnival feel to Lerwick. There were sports all over the place – the Clickimin Leisure Centre, in the schools, the Gilbertson Park. And on Victoria Pier was “Flavour of Shetland” which had stalls with fresh food and products from Shetland, and there was a huge marquee with a stage for local musicians throughout the week, and a bar by the Valhalla brewery from Unst.

The UK’s most northerly town. A curious place with a busy harbour, bars with live music and more fresh lamb and fresh salmonn than you know what to so with.
