Old stomping grounds by rwelsh

I spent a few years living here, after I graduated high school in Ishpeming, about 20 minutes west of here. Spent a lot of time hiking and practicing nature photography. Attended NMU for five years before getting my degree. I definitely recommend going to school, visiting or vacationing here. Though if you’re in the tech industry…get the hell out as soon as you graduate. It’s gorgeous here, but it’s a dream-killer. You’ll say, “I’ll leave, I’ll leave…” and never will. Never be able to afford to. Worst job market ever.

Fun outdoors town! by andreaandrea

I’ve been to the UP many times and this city is my favorite. We went to the Wooden Nickle the last time I was there. It’s an old biker bar where studnets hang out at now, and bands play. Whe the bar closed at two we all walked right out of the bar and into Lake Superior, it was May and freezing, but sobered us up so we felt great the next morning! There’s a ton of cool places to eat and hang out, as well as go camping hiking. People don’t realize how much the UP has to offer.

I grew up there by SillyPutty

It’s the most beautiful place on Earth in the Summer and Fall. The winter is long and hard, and the Spring is often snowy.

Marquette, Michigan is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The town is charming and welcoming. There are lovely restaurants and bars to tempt any palette. The miles and miles of sandy, pristine beaches are a summer dream. You cannot beat the winter sports and activities. It’s a college town—so higher learning happens right down the street. There’s a summer stock theatre on the shores of superior. It’s brilliant!! I should know. . .I grew up in Marquette.
