A review of this place
This felt like the heart of wine country.
The village is unique with its orange roof buildings and an elevated section allowing a view of a valley and the rest of the town below.

This was my all time favorite family trip when I was a kid. The city is absolutely charming with beautiful pedestrian streets. And the confections are great for kids, while the wine is perfect for adults. Just an altogether charming place to go spend the day.

Not long train ride from Bordeaux.
They got good wine in St. Emilion. I mean they do all over the Bordeaux region, but it’s particularly good here. To visit most Bourdeaux vineyards you have to have a car, but you can take a train to St. Emilion. Supposedly the tourist office in town can set you up with some visits and wine tastings. But it wasn’t the summer tourist season when I went, and they looked at me like I was from Mars, and there was no way for me to actually go to any of these famous vineyards. Oh well. Still drank plenty of wine in town—once I found a place that was open.
