Worth visiting!
When I went it was in spring, and calling it a “ghost town” would be an understatement…

My favorite place was Dún Aengus (one of the several ways I’ve seen it spelled) on Inish Mor. I almost liked the cliff there better than the Cliffs of Moher. It seemed more dramatic to me, with the ringfort (more like half-ring fort) going right up to the edge of it the cliff. It really comes down to a toss-up between the two for me. Well worth the tiny price we had to pay to climb up there.

They didn’t have electricity until the 1960s or 70s. It is what you think of when you think ‘Ireland’ and going is like walking in a storybook.
Rent a bike when you get there, eat some banoffi pie, enjoy watching the seals, take in the serenity.

I have a specific fascination with Ireland due to its celtic history and my love for the medieval and mystic world. My dad really wants to visit Ireland with us and I hope we get to do it! The Aran Islands look like a VERY special place…

Went for 1 night, stayed for 6! Not my first time on the island, but this time I really got sucked in to the peacefulness of it. Had been 6 yrs before, briefly, , and loved it, but this last time was amazing…was sunny and beautiful, the locals are wonderful. very inviting place. Stayed at the Hostel, got lucky…traded labor for a room. Wonderful…I envision myself growing old on Inis Mor :)

I was only able to visit the Islands for two days, on a trip with my American classmates whilst living and studying in Dublin in 2004. It is, hands-down, the most beautiful place I’ve visited. We stayed at Mainistir House on Inis Máan. The hikes and tours are all worthwhile, but for first-timers I would definitely recommend just taking the ferry out from Galway (West Coast of Ireland) and walking along the edges of Aran where the wool shops and little houses are. It’s quite literally a different world. And well worth visiting.

I went to the Aran with some college friends. We managed to score a round trip ferry ride, bike rentals, and lodging for 20 euro each, some package deal.
The bikes were rickety and rusty. The lodgings were so wretched I went outside to do my business. BUT…the island was beautiful! absolutely gorgeous! awesome cliffs, rad beaches, and cute cottages! totally worth the sore crotch form riding a broken 10-speed on hills all day.

I went to the largest island of Inis Mor – and we hiked the entire thing for 8 hours solid. My feet hurt really bad, but it was completely worth it! One of the most uniquely beautiful places I’ve visited.
