Olympia

So ancient and beautiful! Had a very relaxing time there (something im not good at) Never been interested in Museums etc before but I loved it!

Olympia is one of those places that evokes emotions through the absence of something more than the presence. Time has taken away the noise, the pageantry, the athletes. Many ancient traditions and rituals undoubtedly are lost in time. But if you walk the running paths, if you sit and listen, you can almost hear the distant din.

Went here on a day trip along with anciet Corinth. Olympia is amazing! You will never know how cool it is to be in this city until you are there! I actually stood on the field where the ancient Olympic games took place – incredible. Also, there is the most ridiculous museum on Olympic history there and I guarantee more than half of that information can only be found in the most obscure textbooks that will never be read. But visit the town and there it is all in one place with the artifacts to go along! Plus, just down the hill from the museum, in the town itself is a tourist shop that sells the most incredbly gorgeous glass pieces I have ever seen in my life! Between the two of us we bought like 5 pieces! It took all day to get out to Olympia and back but I would do it again in a heartbeat!
