Door County

My parents have been vacationing here since the early ‘70s and they have kept coming back ever since for the fish boils and cherries. Its definitely an interesting mix of rural, forested countryside on the shores of Lake Michigan and urban shopping in little towns. It is particularly nice in the autumn. I’d bet at least half of the people on the peninsula at any time are just driving through, but there are still quiet places to relax and drink tea.

Door County is such a beautiful place! All of the little towns are so simple and have such unique spots! I have been here several times with my family and it’s a great time. We miny golf, go to Door County Confectionaries, visit state/county parks, go swimming, visit museums and just enjoy the natural beauty!

I love escaping to Door County every year. And for any newcomers I recommend Cave Point County Park, White Fish Dunes, Sunset at Ephraim (grab a waffle cone at Wilson’s), Hiking in Peninsula State Park, kayak Europe lake, read a book at The Bridge in Egg Harbor, catch a play at the Peninsula Players, and take in the rustic beauty.

Very homey/rustic, small-town, and scenic. Definitely a place to get away from it all.
